How to decide?
What are the ground rules? How do we choose which ideas to discard in which ideas to move forward on? For example, I'm inclined to write about a world where -- on Mother's Day -- children stand in a line to slap their mothers. And in this world, mothers of all ages tremendously appreciate the gesture. So a hypothetical storyline for such a universe would involve a mother whose ungrateful children do not slap her on Mother's Day.

I suggest we seek consensus and make an effort to include multiple styles and talents. If the primary storyline is "realist", more conceptual material can be integrated as dreams, conversational digressions, and stories within stories. If the primary storyline is conceptual, "realist" storylines can be reimagined in different terms.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I would like to do, is have some sense of real time on 11/14. Maybe we could shoot to brainstorm and have a basic idea by then?
I thought mother's day was for slapping your grandmother...
